The Line That Changed Our Lives

On Wednesday, April 23 a short pink line changed our lives forever.
Karin and I had decided at the beginning of the year that we were ready to start trying to get pregnant. After two months of trying, we decided it would be prudent to wait until I could add Karin to my insurance plan, since doing so would probably save us a lot of money in the long run. So we were determined to try not to get pregnant until after June 1. After exactly 1 month of trying not to get pregnant, Karin was. It shouldn’t come as that big a surprise, really (to us, that is). After all, it was when we were both determined not to be looking for any sort of relationship that we started dating. It seems the surest way to achieve a thing is to be actively trying to avoid it. It would be nice if the same tactic worked for winning the lottery.
